MERSEY Docks and Harbour Company, apart from breaking all kinds of records, said hotel operators were showing a strong interest in Princes Dock. Further along the dock road, the MDHC is revising its master plan for the derelict Central Docks area where it has already received planning permission for a homes and leisure development. The original 2000 homes earmarked for the site will be greatly increased, with higher level buildings because of the stampede for homes along the waterfront.

WORK has begun on two major plans for Princes Dock, one of the city's key riverfront redevelopment sites. Drilling rigs are preparing the foundations for residential towers for a multi-million pound scheme by City Lofts Development to provide 162 luxury apartments at the north east corner of the dock. Farther south, also on the eastern side of the dock, two tower cranes are busy at work on the multi-storey car park for the Princes Dock Development Company. With760 spaces on 19 levels, plus a ground floor creche and other retail facilities, it is scheduled to open in March next year.
