A FORMER print house in Liverpool's Rope-walks area is to be transformed into an urban hotel.
Bristol-based Alias Hotels has snapped up the former Seel House Press in Seel Street.
And the group plans to open the new hotel in early 2006, said marketing director Rupert Kenyon.
The company operates under the Alias name and already has four Alias hotels around the UK.
The latest to open was the Alias Hotel Rossetti in Manchester's Piccadilly.
Mr Kenyon said the Liverpool site, their fifth hotel, will be named the Alias Hotel St Louis.
Other hotels are the Alias Kandinsky in Cheltenham, the Alias Seattle in Brighton and the Alias Barcelona in Exeter.
The 70-bedroom Liverpool development will create 75 new jobs at peak times, said Mr Kenyon.
" We ' re really excited about getting it up and running in Liverpool.
"The city is a great destination for an urban and hospitality brand like ourselves."
He said it will reflect their 'urban hotel' brand and will include a Cafe Paradiso restaurant which has proved particularly successful in their other properties.
"It is Mediterranean cooking to a standard better than most people can cook at home, but very affordable," he said..
"The Liverpool hotel will also have a first class cocktail bar," he added..
Mr Kenyon said a final cost for the development has not been calculated yet. "The opening is still some way off, but it will be a fantastic development for ourselves and for the city," he pledged.
The last Alias opening in Manchester includes Italian designer furniture; CD/DVD players; monsoon showers; and broadband internet access in all bedrooms.
Seel House Press was a commercial printer but closed down almost 20 years ago and has lain derelict since then.
