PLANS for a massive £34m revamp of Aintree Racecourse got the seal of approval this week, at a point when management is locked in delicate negotiations to find a new sponsor for the Grand National. Last night Sefton Council confirmed it has approved a planning application that includes two new five-storey grandstands, extra viewing facilities for 6,700 people, and several new restaurants and bars. A vision for the world famous site unveiled in May also includes a permanent Aintree pavilion with public bar and catering and betting facilities for up to 10,000 Tattersalls punters. >>MORE HERE
