Born in Whiston, 1947. DO YOU REMEMBER 'OUR DAY OUT'? Brilliant! Mrs Kay's 'Progress Class' are unleashed for a day's coach trip to Conway Castle in Wales - in an exuberant celebration of the joys and agonies of growing up and being footloose, fourteen and free from school. "The skill and zest of the show...derive from its success in following the adult argument through while preserving all the fun of a story mainly played by children... It sums up our trips to Colomendy!

There was actually a load of kids from Speke in "Our Day Out".... do you rememebr the bit when they go to the zoo...and when they are all on the coach to leave the zoo-keeper gets on the bus and says ... " Ok who's got it..? " and one of the kids had robbed a python..?? well there is a story of when the circus came to Speke in the 70's sometime...it was based on the old wasteground behind Speke police station....and the local kids "pinched " an Elephant....!!! it was only over the road in the park....but it just shows how "enterprising " Speke kids where...!!! I often wonder if Willy took inspiration for the "snake" storyline from this incident... Can you imagine the gippo's walking into the policestation and saying..." They've nicked an Elephant"
