The Liverpool exhibitionist stunned spectators and police in the United States during one of the biggest events in the sporting calendar. The 39-year-old from Toxteth came on to the pitch of the Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, dressed as a referee and then proceeded to strip off. Roberts spent 30 seconds cavorting on the pitch in front of millions of viewers before he was tackled by a player and bundled off the field. He claimed on his official website that he managed to dodge massive security at the Reliant Stadium to make his audacious strip. OH dear.....
SERIAL streaker Mark Roberts from Liverpool will appear before Paris judges this week for running naked on to the court during the French Open tennis tournament.
Roberts, 39, will appear on Thursday for stripping off his clothes before a sell-out crowd.
It is likely the case will be adjourned, but Roberts could face jail later this month when he is due in court in America.
US prosecutors want to put him behind bars for a stunt which caused national unrest at American football's Superbowl.
Families in the stadium and millions around the world watched his actions on TV.
US football chiefs say they are disgusted, and prosecutors in Houston, where the game took place, say a trespassing charge will not be dropped.
It carries a maximum sentence of six months in prison and a hefty fine.
Roberts, from Kensington, admitted: "I could go to jail for six months and be fined £1,100. It does scare me.
"I will be going to America, but have not decided the best way to deal with what will happen in court.
"My solicitor in America will advise me and I am hoping they do not send me to jail.
"But I am dreading what could happen." Roberts ran on the pitch dressed as a referee as the second half of the showpiece Superbowl game was about to begin.
He whipped off the outfit by pulling on a piece of Velcro and then did an Irish jig in front of spectators.
A burly American football player crashed into him as security staff moved in to drag him away. He was arrested and charged with trespassing.
During his first court appearance in Houston, he did not enter a plea and was told he must return on March 30.
His lawyer in Houston, Sharon Levine, said: "The prosecution have certainly shown no signs of dropping the charge."

Not bad going for a lad from Kenny............
Super Bowl streaker appears in court, will plead innocent to misdemeanour
The Brit who stripped to a thong and danced a jig on the field before a stunned Super Bowl crowd intends to plead innocent to trespassing because no one told him he couldn't do it, he said after a court appearance on Tuesday.
Mark Francis Roberts, 39, was fully clothed and advertising-free when he visited a county court-at-law in downtown Houston. After he agreed to another hearing on April 22, Roberts told The Associated Press he planned to go to trial on the misdemeanour charge. Roberts, asked by lawyer Sharon Levine not to discuss the case specifically, said he didn't mind the prospect of two more trans-Atlantic flights for the hearing and a trial.
"I like to fly," the Liverpudlian said.
The post-Super Bowl chatter was dominated by halftime performer Janet Jackson's baring of her right breast on national television, although few in the stadium noticed it. Conversely, CBS didn't air Roberts' antics but he was in full view of fans in their seats.
Plenty of other cameras captured him, however, and his stunt was shown repeatedly on television and on the Internet after the game.
Roberts doesn't deny he was the one who darted onto the Reliant Stadium field in a tear-away referee's uniform, stripped near the kicking tee before the second half began and started dancing and displaying a skin-borne advertisement for an online casino.
Police were slow to react, and Roberts appeared to be running out of dance moves before they finally charged the field. New England Patriots (news) linebacker Matt Chatham levelled Roberts, who was carried from the field by officers.
His sponsor carries images of the incident on its Web site and Roberts does the same on his own Internet page, thestreaker.org.uk.
"I'm not charged with streaking," Roberts said.
The contention of Roberts and Levine, who works for famed lawyer Richard (Racehorse) Haynes, is that no one told Roberts he was not allowed on the field.
"It's on video, so there's no question as to what happened," Levine said. "It's just a question as to whether he violated any laws.
"Under trespass you're entitled to a warning that entrance is forbidden."
And Roberts said he saw no such warnings.
"Nothing at all," he said.
Police said Roberts got into the game with a legitimate ticket wearing a referee outfit held together with Velcro under civilian clothes. He was charged with criminal trespass and public intoxication.
According to his site, Roberts has streaked more than 300 times. He has cases pending in Paris and back home in Liverpool, and his Super Bowl moment was his first North American venture.
If convicted of the Class B misdemeanour, Roberts could spend up to six months in jail and pay a fine of up to $2,000 US. A trial setting likely would come this summer. Why don't the Yanks lighten up? American footy's so bloody boring, I would have thought that Janet Jackson getting her boob out and a fella running round waggling his willy would only serve to liven it up a bit!!

Mark Roberts, who streaked at the US Superbowl is to go on trial for trespassing and could face six months in jail. He ran on to the pitch in Texas in February.
He tore off a fake referee's striped uniform and danced a jig wearing only a thong.
Roberts has targeted high-profile events before, most notably when he streaked at the Commonwealth Games.
His Superbowl streak has been largely overshadowed by the more reported incident involving the singer Janet Jackson.
