You know him as the bloke off Art Attack, but does anyone remember No 73 that used to be on kids telly on a Saturday morning? Sandi Toksvig was some kind of landlady sort, Neil lived there with a gay looking Jason Donovan type and some mad bird on roller skates. Found this on some sad blokes nostalgia site, but he doesn't mention the spectacular mullets sported by Neil in these photies!!
"Neil Buchanan plays Neil, the talented artist in No 73. Neil was born and brought up in Liverpool and remembers living opposite Aintree Racecourse where the Grand National is run. He went to the Liverpool Institute High School, the same school as two of the Beatles and also had the same teacher. It was this, he says, which made him decide to follow in their footsteps and so he formed a rock group called Marseille.
After clinching a record deal with Mountain Records the band spent the next 5 years releasing records and touring Britain, Europe and the USA. Marseille were the first band from Liverpool to tour America since the Beatles and during their tours played to an average of 20,000 people per night.
Neil has since left the band to devote more time to television, although he still likes to play the guitar and write songs. His spare time is spent painting, drawing and creating new art forms and ideas. Neil has millions of interests - he says he finds a new hobby every day, but the popular ones at the moment are wildlife conservation and exploring old railway lines. He lists Sergeant Bilko as his hero!"
