LIVERPOOL is being promoted in a new campaign to encourage tourists to take British city breaks.
Some of the city's most famous attractions, including the Albert Dock and Liverpool cathedral, are being showcased to British visitors.
The Mersey River Festival, African Oye and the FACT centre are also highlighted in the City Culture initiative.
Tourism minister Richard Caborn today unveiled the new campaign, which was welcomed by tourist chiefs on Merseyside.
A spokesman for the Mersey Partnership, which promotes tourism on Merseyside, said: "We know Liverpool's strong urban product has much to offer.
"Together with our own marketing work and the city's status as Capital of Culture, it gives us a terrific opportunity to showcase our assets to the whole British market."
The initiative is also backed by 11 of Britain's leading culture figures, including the chairman designate of National Museums Liverpool, Loyd Grossman, who recommends visits to FACT and the Walker art gallery.
