A MULTI-MILLION pound Las Vegas-style casino complex may be built on the banks of the Mersey, the Daily Post can reveal. Three international gambling operators were yesterday locked in talks with officers from Liverpool City Council at the Mipim development conference in Cannes on the French Riviera. Another three leading gambling firms have made approaches to city leaders within the last month with plans to be build what would be the country's largest casino. Such a complex would cost more than £20m to build, would create up to 2,000 jobs and could be worth an estimated £200m a year to the local economy. The major casino companies had been attracted to Liverpool because of the city's ambitious waterfront development plans and proposals to build a cruise liner terminal on the Pier Head, which would see thousands of wealthy tourists visit each year. BRING ON THE ELVIS IMPERSONATORS!!!!! Thankyou very much

AMERICAN gaming giant MGM last night described Liverpool's waterfront as a "wonderful" location for a multi-million pound casino complex.
A spokesman for Las Vegas-based MGM Mirage said: "There is no question that Liverpool would be a dynamic market for us to explore.
"It's no secret that we have a great interest in the English gaming market and Liverpool would be wonderful.
"We are aware of Liverpool's good international reputation through The Beatles, their soccer teams and the Capital of Culture award.

PLANS for a Las Vegas-style casino complex on Liverpool's waterfront could be threatened if the UK government decides to water down proposed gambling reforms.
A report by a cross-party committee of MPs into an overhaul of gaming laws is today expected to recommend many restrictions on gambling remain.
