The line up at this June's Liverpool International Tennis Tournament keeps getting better, with the latest signing of the ATP player Iralki Labadze.
The Liverpool International Tennis Tournament takes place at Calderstones Park this June. The UK's biggest exhibition tournament has attracted several ATP players including Robert Kendrick, Vince Spadea, Ramon Delgado and Irakli Labadze, dubbed the Georgian Goran.
The Legends tournament is set to feature the 1996 Wimbledon Champion Richard Krajicek, Ilie Nastase and Mansour Bahrami. Romanian Nastase and Aregentian Vilas were controversial figures in the 1970's although their bad boy reputations did not detract from their success.
Nataste twice topped the world rankings, winning the US and French Opens, while Vilas' record of 50 successive victories ranks among tennis's finest achievements.
The five day grass court tournament is at Calderstones Park from June 9th-13th. The tournament is the only event outside of Wimbledon where tennis fans will get the chance to see current professionals and stars of the senior circuit in action in the same week.
Liverpool City Council's Executive Member for Leisure Warren Bradley says ''This year's Liverpool International has a roll call of legends and young guns that will be the envy of any tournament. It seems lady luck is a Liverpudlian with first Vince winning and now Irakli doing well. Let's hope it spreads so that all these players coming from all over the world to Liverpool give tennis fans an unforgettable week of thrills and skills.''
Robert Kendrick is the only top ranked player to have a better one on one record with Pete Sampras, he'll play in two exhibition matches as the curtain raiser for the Legends event.
