A CENTRE giving information about the Capital of Culture year has been set up on Whitechapel in the city centre.
The new service, to be known as 08 Place, will tell people all they need to know about European Capital of Culture under one roof. It well tell visitors what is to happen in the run up to 2008 plus the celebration year itself.
It is also likely to be a magnet for tourists wanting to know more about the city and will open in spring next year.
City council leader Mike Storey said: "This is a fantastic scheme, which will give Capital of Culture its own home in the city centre, and open up Liverpool's culture experience to many, more people.
"The ' 08 Place' will become a visible and recognisable symbol of the Capital of Culture celebrations in Liverpool.
"It will be located on one of the main pedestrian routes in the city-centre, so people will find it easy to drop-in and find out anything about the city's spectacular programme."
Creative director of Liverpool Culture Company Sue Woodward added: " We want our culture celebrations to be inclusive and accessible for everyone and this new facility will provide a cultural focal point for our communities."
