Scouseproud got some publicity in this special edition! Did you get it?
You should have done. A wonderful trip down memory lane with old photos and memories!
scouseproud member 'Phil' had his memories printed. If you missed them here they are....
I am now 51 years old and I first went to Colomendy when I was about 10. We used to live in the City Centre and as far as I can remember it was the first time ever I went away from home.We used to pay so much money a week to school and it seemed to take all year to pay for it! This included pocket money. I remember when we were due to go, mum and dad taking me to school. Getting the old double- decker bus with all our class.Saying goodbye to mum and dad and going to the top of the bus, we would head towards the Mersey Tunnel. It seemed to take forever to get there but when we got there it was great, countryside, farms and hills.I had only been as far as New Brighton and West Kirby before!I remember the walks, the days out, the food, the countryside..it was great. AND the ghost, Peg Leg..We used to believe it!The days out were good, going to Mould or Chester. It was just like the play, OUR DAY OUT and I loved going up Moel Fammau, it was like climbing the highest mountain in the world!I must have gone to Colomendy 5 times and I wanted to live there. My 2 kids have been and they loved it too. I have been back with my 2 kids as a help (one is now a teacher) and I loved it. I have a grandson and would like to go with him when he is old enough. I hope it stays open for many years to come!
I also had my memories printed!!!!!
