LIVERPOOL's Capital of Culture transformation will be worth £1bn and will spread to the suburbs, city leaders said today. They urged people to bear with the cranes that tower above the city's skyline and pavements which are being dug up. For out of the noise and dust will emerge a clean, spruced-up Liverpool looking its best for the city's moment in the world spotlight as Capital of Culture in 2008. But it will also be a much changed city. The controversial Fourth Grace on the banks of the Mersey will form one of the most important centrepieces, and one of Europe's biggest shopping centres will emerge in the heart of the city. I do hope the majority of the money doesnt get spent on the City Centre, there are some places that could well benefit from some cash, especially to upgrade facilities for kids. Sports centres etc
