LILY Savage star Paul O'Grady is to join ITV soap Emmerdale as a gay member of the infamous Dingle family.
Yorkshire Television confirmed today that soap chiefs are in talks with the 49-year-old comic.
They say O'Grady, who shot to fame as blonde drag queen Lily Savage in the late 1990s, is poised to sign a contract to join the programme in a role which could be long-term.

Why is this news on the webs front page?
I always thought he does not like being portrayed as a scouser, so I would assume he is not proud of being one.
What about the fact that he gets a right weed on after he is referred to as being from Liverpool due to his scouse accent.

I stand corrected it was on the "»Liverpool- A World Heritage Site" page.
Yes this is true he does get a weed on, as do a lot of Peeps from the Wirral when they are referred to as being from Liverpool or being scousers.
Not all but some even my auntie.
It gets her back up as well.

Its just one of those things. I reckon that come 2008, when someone asks them if they are scousers, theyll say yes then.
Some people are scousers when they want to be or when there is something in it for them.
Look at Ex-Atomic Kitten, Jenny Frost. And that other one Kerry Macfadden who famously declared Atomic Kitten as 'Top Scally Scouse', when she was from Warrington! Look how successfull they have become.
I dont see how Lillie Savage can get a weed on over his roots. His act is all based on the clothes and that scouse accent!

well i for one hate it wen ppl claim that they are scousers & they are not, but if ppl wanna distance themselves from liverpool then so be it, im proud of where i come from & im sure every other scouser is too , wot is there not to love? its full of friendly, lovely, funny, talented ( thats bin proved ) ppl & quite frankly i couldn't give a **** wot anyone else ( non scousers ) has to say & neither shud u 'merseyriver' , be true to ur own!!! u can take us out of liverpool, but u cant take the liverpool out of us.
