LIVERPOOL Waterfront is set to celebrate the city's new status as a World Heritage site with a series of music and comedy performances.
The Waterfront Weekend will take place between September 3-5 in a specially built 5,000 seat arena at Liverpool Pier Head.
Already confirmed for the three night festival are comedians Jo Brand and Julian Clary and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra (RLPO).
Warren Bradley, the city council's executive member for leisure and culture, said: "This will be a fantastic weekend of first class entertainment in one of the best locations in Europe.
"What better way to celebrate the fact that we are now a World Heritage city?
"Comedy and music are two of Liverpool's best known exports, and there is nowhere more fitting to hold this event than the Pier Head --home to the city's most world famous landmarks."
Waterfront Classics on September 3 will see the RLPO conducted by Howard Moody, who has previously worked with the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
The event will also feature Marc Almond and the Farm, accompanied by SFX Boys Choir Liverpool, and Liverpool's Young Musician of the Year Thomas Osborne.
Comedy stars Brand and Clary will round off the festival with Waterfront Comedy night on Saturday, September 5.
Friday's entertainment, Waterfront Rocks, will feature a line-up of pop acts put together by Radio City 96.7 to mark the station's 30th birthday.
Tickets for the three events will cost between £16.50 and £27.50.

It gets me,howLiverpool is full of fantastic bands, and we get the Farm ..... ok they had a couple of hit singles in the early 90's, and one of 'em was good ....
But we are restricting this to a fee paying public ?
Why not have a festival in in one of the parks with a nominal admittance fee to see Liverpool talent ........
Why involve everyone else ??
