A GLOBAL search has begun for the team to lead Liverpool's Capital of Culture celebrations.
Five new jobs at the Culture company aim to maximise the visitor potential during 2008.
Council chief executive Sir David Henshaw said: "We are steadily building the team which will deliver Capital of Culture.
"We have promised that as a premier European city in 2008, Liverpool will stage the best ever Capital of Culture. The candidates will have the experience, imagination and drive to deliver and make this happen."
The Five posts are:
* Head of tourism - £46,238 to £51,518. The council is looking for someone with five years' experience at a top level within the industry.
* Head of Liverpool Welcome - £46,238 to £51,518. Liverpool Welcome aims to bring together every city resident, business and community group to ensure that Liverpool is presented to visitors as a premier European city.
* Head of commercial - £46,238 to £51,518. The job will be attracting corporate sponsorship for 2008. The council aims to raise as much as £12m.
* Event production manager - £28,173 to £30,654. Staging everything from parades to pop concerts.
* Maritime events manager - £28,173 to £30,654. The River Mersey will be at the heart of 2008 and the winner of this post will be expected to combine river-based events with other celebrations.
Earlier this year, Kris Donaldson, who masterminded the sponsorship campaign for the Sydney Olympics in 2000, was appointed director of marketing.
Wirral sports events expert Jason Harborow, 33, who was commercial general manager for the Manchester Commonwealth Games, became tourism director, and Australian Robyn Archer became artistic director.
