The Titanic was actually built in Liverpool, a fact that, according to some non-scouser friends of mine, lead to it sinking! lol

RMS Titanic was built in Belfast, Ireland, by Harland and Wolff Shipbuilders.
Liverpool had a lot of connections to it though through The White Star Line..a company which had been founded in 1845 by Henry Threlfall Wilson and John Pilkington. Prompted by the discovery of gold in Australia the company operated a fleet of sailing clippers to cope with the rush of prospectors to the newly found goldfields. The clippers, which started sailings in 1852, operated between Liverpool and Melbourne returning to England with whale oil, seal skins, wool and, more importantly, gold.
Next time you watch the film, 'Liverpool' is all over the Titanic, from its instruments to the final scene when it sinks and the last thing you see is the word..'Liverpool' going under!!!!
